UPSTAIRS WITH DANNY AIELLO
Shecky's Catches Up With the Actor and Comedy Show Host

Danny Aiello is a late bloomer: He made his acting debut at age 36 on Broadway. But he’s more than made up for it since, not only starring in “Do the Right Thing,” Moonstruck,” and “29th Street,” but also dropping a jazz album that made the Billboard charts – and now, hosting a comedy event.

Here, Shecky’s chats up the man-of-all-trades about Danny’s Upstairs (myspace.com/tuttapasta), a weekly live comedy night he recently began hosting on Wednesdays at laidback bar G2 (Gaslight’s brother: sheckys.com/newyorkcity/search/g2_1_1634.asp). “I believe comedy should be, along with singing, in a bar/saloon atmosphere,” says Aiello. With a $20 cover, comedy, great eats, and the guy who played the papa in Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach” video, how can you go wrong?
