Brigid compiles images from the portfolio of documentary photographer Lewis Hine to illustrate his impact in changing social problems. Hine documented the squalor of New York tenements and slums to promote social change for better living conditions, housing codes and social awareness. He also documented the deplorable conditions of children working in factories. His images inspired Congress to pass labor laws to protect children. If you are sitting in a classroom today - you can thank Lewis Hine for the privilege.
