Did you use Vegas to edit?

I used iMovie and didn't edit anything in terms of video quality.

I just purchased the HF200 as well, although the North American version. When you say macro, do you mean an add-on conversion lens for the camera? The only reason I ask is that I was searching for a "macro" focusing mode, but didn't find one. I'm a photographer just dipping my feet into videography, so I'm not even sure if a "macro" mode is available.

The HF200 has a strong macro mode. Look at the specs. Minimum focusing distance at full wide angle is 1cm (0.39 inch). If as a photographer you happen to have a Lensbaby lens with converter lenses, those converter lenses fit on the HF200 as well.

did you use imovie 09? is the HF 200 compatible with it ?

I used iMovie08. The HF100 is on the iMovie '09 list (with some limitations), so why wouldn't the HF200 work as well? Supported devices: support.apple.com/kb/HT3290

I just bought iLife '09 today and iMovie '09 worked without problems.

Hi Harald, do you have sample of night shot (outdoor). Does HF200 do well in lowlight or is it bad as the review said (in comparison of HF10/100). Please share your thoughts regarding noise, I'm considering to get this videocam vs Sony CX11. THanks!!

If it helps any, I posted just such a test of low-light video here on Vimeo: vimeo.com/4876791

In my opinion, there is a fair amount of noise, but image detail is strong. Other camcorders sacrifice image detail even though they might deliver less noise. I agree with Harald that manual control options are not as good as they could be.

Do you have a link to the review? I filmed a party last week but the video isn't edited yet. I wouldn't call it bad, but I just started filming again after many years, so I am not really familiar with other camcorders in this segment. My old digital-8 camcorder only had that greenish nightview. I like this camera because of its compact size and very often the image quality is great. I am not 100% satisfied with the autofocus and the manual control options (from the perspective of a photographer).
What kind of night shot are you thinking about.

Can you please help me out? The video quality you post is great and you say you used iMovie. I have the same camcorder but my videos are not clear, i see a lot of lines (de-interlace issues i guess?) can you please tell me exactly how you imported into imovie and how you exported? (settings?) I'm becoming desperate because all my videos have horizontal stripes, and i've tried so many codecs. Thanks in advance!!

Well, after this old test clip I switched to filming in 25p (24p for the US version), since that is also what Vimeo will be displaying here and is generally recommended if you intend to display your videos on the web. Don't remember if I de-interlaced in software for this short sample video.

I need serious help with my new camcorder, Canon Legria HF200.
When I import the files direct from the camcorder, the filed are saved as .mts files.
The problem here is that I can't open these files to any other program than the program that followed the camcorder (ImageMixer 3 Se Ver.5), which doesn't work with my small PC.
I also tried to open the files on a Mac, iMovie 09, but this doesn't work either.
    Hope you can help me!

iMovie 09 can import directly from the HF200 or when you archived the complete folders also those. .mts is not a format suited for video editing. iMovie will convert the videos to a different format, which takes time and disk space.
