    What worked?
  • james veale 3 years ago
    it's an advertisement.... ah...never mind
  • kruzer 3 years ago
An ad 'worked' if you go out and BUY a Honda!
Otherwise it was a waste of money for them.
  • Marius Oseth 3 years ago
Acctually most advertising for cars, are made to reassure people that have already bougth them that they have made the right choice.
  • Jack Sutter plus 3 years ago
why would you buy ad space to comfort someone post purchase? that's absurd.
  • Tomosh T. Teele 3 years ago
if you've taken any time in learning about ads, marketing or whatsoever, i dont think youd think as it being "absurd".
  • ilife-studio 3 years ago
    me
    too :D

He could buy a Honda someday based on his impressions on this ad. Really.

Very cool! At first I thought it was just CG but having a hundred cars do this was insane. It's basically a take on the people at the stadiums with color cards... nice.

(unrelated: what was annoying however was a popup related to the advertisement (some exercise thing) just before the video loaded. when did vimeo start doing popup/popunders?)
  • Andrew Pile staff 3 years ago
We should not be doing ANY pop over/unders. If you identify an ad that might be doing this, please contact help.

look at the making of, most of the cars are only plywood shapes.
honda, how about coming up with some real solutions for the obvious problems, instead of this feel good, livestyle eco shit? hybrids are not much more sustainable than the average car.
    we need something new. now.
  • what katie does 3 years ago
it's baby steps in the right direction - research Honda's FCX for a real life-changing car
  • Jeffrey Wear 3 years ago
No, the plywood structures are placed in front of each car's headlights to confine the light to a certain area so that each "pixel" is well defined. They're not meant to represent cars - how could they? They're not rigged with lights.

Of course the rationale for the ad is at least somewhat hype - but that doesn't mean that the ad itself deserves to be denigrated. On the contrary, it's very well produced and presented in a stirring manner.

I have never seen such an integration in a web page like that...(wtf this flare? :) ) I would like to know how THAT has been done, instead of the ad itself!!

( This ad is I think a lot of money and work for a result that is very 'cold' and 'banal' (at the end it's pixel pictogram animation...) It doens't even look real..
I almost feel it could easely have been done in CG.

Anyway... this belgian TV ad for an electric supplier is Belgium has been done 6 months before, and is way beter to my opinion. Check out the ads and the making of.

  • Emulgator 3 years ago
    hey,
thanks, but that's the making of the ad..
I was interested in how the Vimeo page was done...
  • Emulgator 3 years ago
    u're welcome Malte
  • Charles Wyatt 3 years ago
I agree with you Emulgator. The way they integrated the Vimeo page was quite astonishing. I have about as much interest in ads as I do in cars but what drew you to this ad in the first place, the title or your profession?
  •
  • George Nimeh plus 3 years ago
The ad is just ok, but the way they're using Vimeo is fantastic ...

Blown away! Yes this is an advert but it is also a piece of art for those opposed to it being an advert here on Vimeo. I say lighten up. You did click play after all....

Bravo Casey! A very unique video experience was created here.
  • Jeremy Ricketts 3 years ago
I'll watch anything that's beautiful, creative, and generally pleasing- the fact that it's an ad doesn't take anything away from me. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. And this was friggin' sweet!
