125. Bumar record Presents Compassionate sound motion! 3
6 months ago
Yeah D.D. Jackson my old friend from the Billy Bangs days that over 30 years ago that I played with D.D for the first time we both were playing all over New York city, D.D is my kind of musician
Because he plays his piano in the moment
Just like I play the drums he feels what is needed in the moment without any hesitation
I knew the new music video would be good our music with Lew Scott on bass with his wonderful bass harmonies under D.D.’s swelling piano chords Chris Pasin came in and played second song foot prints by Miles the way Chris plays the Trumpet is a total joy to play with him and then there’s Joel Newton on guitar playing harmonies that build up and break away make a wall of Sound painting a picture from Within.

Jay Lang worte: The pairing of these two giants of the NYC jazz scene after 30 years is beyond verbal description. This is PURE unadultered drama in the making. Beware! This is not jazz for those seeking an escape from their dreary humdrum lives. This is living, breathing, cold sweatin', cat on a hot tin roof bad boy magic!

This R rated Deed begins with the ... Master mimicking the high heeled saunter of a feline on a mission. You can smell, feel, touch and taste 5th Ave as she struts to a city that humps, bumps, & honks around her... compliments to Bugalu's talented band mates...then suddenly the drama explodes when D.D. Jackson takes the stage. This is NOT nice. This man is making bacon on this set of keys that explodes under his touch! Yet...he holds it back, not yet...Oh she is a woman raging with passion! Then a brief bass relief. Then she goes animal on us. Yea! Under the precise touch of Master Bugalu, She is taking you places your mama forbid you to go. MBS the Master... is a bad man!
Jay Lang also wrote If you are searching for the days when jazz came straight from the streets and hungry souls of master improvisioners that mingled with the likes of Miles, Parker, Dizzy, you need not go further.

These ALREADY rare jewels of the night are the real deal. Don't be fooled by the relaxed attitude, these are masters of their craft, and Marvin Bugalu ... Read MoreSmith has brought together a showpiece of those that live and eat this stuff. These master musicians prod and pry, insinuate and stimulate each other to bring out what is could be the closest thing we will ever come to in our lifetimes to the heat of the NY streets in it's heyday. BUT this is no living in the past. These guys are pushing and creating sounds built upon a foundation of the gods of jazz. You don't need a time machine, nor a ticket to NYC, here it is in all it's Splendor. Thank you Master Marvin for keeping alive this true American Art form. Finally, if you haven't witnessed Marvin live, you are missing a true genius
