Bellastock is an international festival whose main goal is to experiment self-construction at every stage, designing a space, building it with your own bare hands and dwelling there during the whole festival.
The association Madstock, together with other institutions and collaborators, organizes this international event for the first time in Spain. Bellastock has already taken place for six years in France and one in Denmark.
This year in Madrid, on the 15th, 16th and 17th of June, 150 students and researchers from different fields will gather to create an ephemeral city. The construction will be carried out with recycled and stock materials. In this edition, cardboard tubes play a leading role, combined with tires and fabrics.
The festival is a great opportunity to experiment at 1:1 scale. The teams will create together their homes, without preestablished limits but according to a common strategy for the whole conception of the community. From the idea to the paper, from the paper to the ground. Test your initiative and improvisation skills by facing the challenges of your own construction! This is the essential part of the festival!
During the whole weekend, workshops related to the reuse of material will take place, as well as cultural activities such as concerts, theater, talks, debates… It will be a coexistence place to exchange and share knowledge and interests. A living city, where construction and material reuse will be the basis to deal with many topics regarding architecture, urbanism, engineering and development.
