This video is a brief glimpse into Kathryn Donatelli's self taught process of making an oil portrait -- from sketch to completion. Every day Kathryn took a photo of the work she had done. Some days there was quite a lot of progress. And on others there appears to be very little difference in the painting. But if you study the images you will notice smaller details or color shifts occurring. The second and third images were done on the same day but the rest of the images each represents one day of work. It's fascinating to watch the work construct, and then to reverse the process as well.

An oil portrait is a beautiful way to capture a fleeting piece of time forever....
