Kobayashi is a riak-based platform we are building at Boundary to provide customers with long-to-medium term storage of the network data we collect and access to that data at interactive latencies. This talk covers the design and operational challenges involved in building a distributed data store capable of storing and analyzing the 18B recs/day processed by Boundary's infrastructure. We'll also look at the measurable differences in system behavior as course corrections were made along the way and how to get a great deal of mileage out riak by knowing which knobs to turn.
