38. Borneo Dispatch Video #8 "The Summit"
"Adventures in Real Time" Story telling as it happens, shot and edited in the field with solar energy & sent via satellite modem from the ridge-top basecamp. Power and satellite connectivity were the major cruxes of the whole production.

This is the last installation, the summit success of an expedition to the highest peak in Malaysia, Mt. Kinabalu. The North Face team climbers Mark Synnott, Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, Alex Honnold and Kevin Thaw establish a first ascent on a 2,500ft big-wall.

One of the other highlight dispatches: vimeo.com/4304488

Gear:
Panasonic HVX 200, HMC 150
Cannon HF11
BGAN explorer satellite modem
Large Brunton Solar Panels
Macbook Pro

Thanks for checking these out, its been a cool learning process trying to pull this off remotely. Vimeo has been an awesome way to share these adventures.

Absolutely full value. Hey, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing the titles and groups of the music from your Czech Repub video. I gotta get my hands on that opening jam with the whistle. Well done. Play hard.

This is Awesome... A different kind of perspective seeing Mount Kinabalu or the local call Gunung Kinabalu.

I'm from Kota Kinabalu by the way.

    2 thumbs up!!

Awesome! I was wondering what your workflow is with the HMC150? When you import into Final Cut Pro, how do you edit the AVCHD footage? thanks man.

I shot @720 24p and with the latest final cut just "log and tranfered" the footage into prores422 and was happy with the results. For some of the action I shot in 60p and used cinema tools to make the slow mo. My workflow was all rushed on the mtn and probably not the best out there -->Dvxuser.com has lots more info. Thanks for checking it out!
