19. Farewell newspapers, radio and television! Hello Internet!
Television, newspapers and radio are going to die within max 20 years. Only niche types of the old media will survive. Why? Advertisers pull out the money, the ROI on the internet is way higher.

Have to disagree. Especially in the face of radio. Radio thrives on local advertising which is very difficult for small businesses to do right on the Internet. It has the highest ROI of any media today and gets people focused. Its also available places where the internet is not like the office cubicle and in the middle of rush hour traffic. Now the method of distrubution may change considering that wireless internet is more readily available but almost all radio stations already have an internet stream of their shows.

Television has already embraced the media of the Internet and more and more shows are available online but their offline revenues continue to grow even in an recession. Here again, the delivery method may change but television has more viewers worldwide than Internet users.

Newspaper is the industry with the biggest change coming. However with OLED and digital ink, they will be able to deliver targeted ads better than you can on your blog or any website can today. They will be able to tie into radio receivers on their newstands that will deliver an ad to the customer for the coffee shop on the same corner. You won't be able to do that on a website since your IP address may be in Virgina while the user is actually in Ohio.

The local radio station is a nice example, it actually supports my argumentation. The more local something is the more niche it is. Local ads actually have a nice ROI because the audience is targeted - local people.

Of course, if television goes online then they are also able to target the ads better as they can individually target each of the users. However, the old television system doesn't work anymore, ads are too general and not relevant at all. The only reason for getting an ad there would be to brand your products, so that people have your name in mind. Still, on the internet you can have both: A nice branding effect and an high ROI. What would you prefer?

If advertisers pull out the money, which is already the case, then they can't sell the adspace for that much money any longer. Without advertising money the companies aren't profitable.
