7th Annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Festival May 18-20
We we're honored to sponsor for the second year.
Part of what makes this festival stand out is its sustainability; bringing together the community with music, art and food all the while focusing on the environment surrounding the festival. Each year more irises will bloom along the bayou thanks to volunteers who plant them. And each year we will watch the area surrounding Bayou St. John continue to blossom while experiencing the sounds and tastes of New Orleans.
In 2011, the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo continued its sustainability efforts with help from a handful of dedicated neighbors, the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association, LSU AG Center, and funded by a Coypu Foundation grant. Volunteers planted one thousand (1000) plugs of the marsh grass Spartina Alternaflora and twelve hundred (1200) irises along the bayou’s western bank that are expected to bloom next spring for the 7th Annual Bayou Boogaloo Festival. As always the Festival is a family-friendly event with a kid’s stage, along with games and activities for children. Attendees can partake in delicious food, spirits and libations, listen to great local music, and enjoy the very best art that New Orleans has to offer.
