130. Seeing Green in Iowa
The President visits Trinity Structural Towers, the former Maytag plant which now houses a green manufacturing facility that produces towers for wind energy production, in Newton. Iowa, a leader in wind energy, is a perfect example of how a community can rebuild a local economy with investments in clean energy and efficiency. Trinity employs dozens of former Maytag employees and is part of the revitalization of a town hard hit by the closing of the Maytag plant. President Obama gives remarks discussing components of his comprehensive energy plan, which include promoting clean energy innovation to help end our dependence on foreign oil, creating millions of new jobs, and preventing the worst consequences of climate change.

This speech was great - very inspiring. I'm so glad to see these policies being taken. Go Obama!

Barack has a real talent for giving historical context for his arguments as well as laying out his thoughts and ideas in a methodical and uplifting manner. It's amazing to see the contrast between Barack and the bumbling Georgie Boy.

But back to the historical context because I think it is important. When he mentions the fella who first drilled for oil in Pennsylvania or the pioneers who endured much more difficult hardships than the ones being endured today, the subtext is this: "Get off your asses your lazy bums and start Being Real Americans". If not, Barack is going to be pretty disappointed because he's working day and night to make your country better and you can barely muster the bare minimum. I love it.
