What small-scale intervention can students build and assemble that will improve underutilized spaces around Meyerson Hall? CO+LAB, a Construction + Collaborative Laboratory, set out with the collective mission to gain comprehensive understanding of materiality + joinery + formwork through experimentation with construction through the lens of community design-build, open to PennDesign students. Using new and found materials, products serve as a material + process showcase for passersby and students alike, programmatically meeting the unanswered needs of our collective student body through constructures.
COUNTER+INTUITIVE, a permanent installation for Meyerson Hall. This first project conducted by CO+LAB was completed on May 11, 2012, made from 10 sheets of plywood after 22 straight hours of assembly, many hours of design time, material collection and preparation.
