"Working Hands: Threads" are video portraits of the manual rhythms and daily routines of women who work with thread: weavers/knitters/embroiderers/dressmakers, from herding the animals to creating the textiles. It is part of the series "Working Hands/Manos Trabajadoras," an intercultural/interdisciplinary art project that engages communities of women as tributes to their labor and life stories. "Threads: Chinchero" is a segment of video portraits of the hands of the women of the Center for Weavers of Chinchero, a town about an hour away from famed Cusco, capital of the Inca Empire in Peru.
The series "Working Hands/Manos Trabajadoras" was funded by a Fulbright US Scholar Grant in Visual Art in Peru in 2011.
