The Chiles Academy, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, is the first conversion charter school in Volusia County. It is named after the late Florida governor, Lawton Chiles. In 2005 it was the first high school in the country to receive a Comprehensive School Reform MicroSociety grant totaling $145,000. The Chiles Academy hopes to be a successful model for the MicroSociety. 75 students have graduated from the charter school over the last three years, most of them dropouts.
