Grassroots Environmental Education is a Port Washington-based environmental health non profit with a mission to educate the public about the links between common environmental exposures and human health, and to empower individuals to act as catalysts for change within their own communities. We run in-school programs, organize professional and community seminars, create print materials and broadcast media, develop innovative programs and have our own radio show, "Green Street" on WBAI-FM.
The How Green Is My Town? program (HowGreenIsMyTown.org ) brings together issues of climate change, sustainability and environmental health as three equal parts of being truly "green." The extensive web-based program is a checklist for local leaders to see how they're doing on these issues, and a blueprint for them to take action on any one of 64 different criteria.
