Michael Glawogger is an Austrian film director, cinematographer and screenwriter. Most well known for his "Globalization Trilogy" Glawogger has certainly challenged the confines of what is typically considered documentary filmmaking by adopting different cinematic forms and including certain staging devices. Notably, it's the extreme conditions and themes within his films (prostitution, poverty, beyond poor working conditions) as well as his beautifully cinematic treatment of those themes that truly separates Glawogger from your average documentary filmmaker. But hey, as he mentions, "I also write comedies."
Jay Kuehner is one of Seattle's most infamous bartenders, but he's also a film buff and critic - he's been a consistent contributor to Cinema Scope online. Jay and Michael met up one day for some drinks and conversation. Hope you enjoy!
