As part of Risk + Reward / Performance without Boundaries at The Museum of Arts and Design
DETAILS ON THE PROGRAM:
DETAILS ON THE PERFORMANCE:
Choreographed by New York artist and producer Legacy Russell, this monument to pop culture and ritual—a triptych in motion—will enact three moments of initiation within contemporary Western culture. These moments mark the beginnings of longer journeys for the performers within each vignette. Placed in close proximity, these milestones will simultaneously reflect and deflect one another, calling into question the cultural value of each and highlighting the socially specific actions that mark each section of the triad as unique. Tears and fissures in the divisions between each of the ceremonies will reveal themselves in the bleeding of the symbolic objects of one, into the scenery of the next, placing the performance and the audience-participants in a realm that defies time, logic, convention, tradition, and socio-cultural expectation. Join the club.
Free and open to the public.
