As a senior in high school, the most commonly asked question is: "What do you want to be when you grow-up?" It's something you think about all the time as you search for the "perfect college" and contemplate the rest of your life. This video was created in response to that pressing question. In 2008, as a high school senior in search of not only the perfect college, but the perfect scholarship, I created this video for a scholarship contest held by Anderson University. I ended-up winning the contest, but in the end, decided to turn it down so that I could attend a different university. Four years later I'm about to begin my senior year of college and still on the road to becoming a nurse. I've learned so much since this video was created. What I didn't know four years ago, is that nursing school is HARD and even PAINFUL! When I seem to be trapped and bogged down with all the work that comes along with this career path, I like to come back to this video and remind myself why I'm doing it in the first place. In the last four years I have gained a deeper understanding of missions, a closer walk with the Lord, and first hand knowledge about the realities of nursing; however, my passions and desires still remain the same. I can't wait to use nursing to serve my great God. That may mean serving in my own backyard, or that could lead me thousands of miles and many oceans away; wherever He leads, I will follow.
