84. Playing For Change | "War/No More Trouble" - Song …
2 years ago
playingforchange.com - As we made our way around the world we encountered love, hate, rich and poor, black and white, and many different religious groups and ideologies. It became very clear that as a human race we need to transcend from the darkness to the light and music is our weapon of the future. This song around the world features musicians who have seen and overcome conflict and hatred with love and perseverance. We dont need more trouble, what we need is love. The spirit of Bob Marley always lives on.

This is the fourth Song Around The World video released from the CD/DVD Playing For Change: Songs Around The World and the follow up to the classics "Stand By Me," "One Love" and "Don't Worry." This unforgetable track was performed by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it traveled the globe.

Why not recruit musicians from Palestine or Iraq to sing about our beautiful world?
  • Ky 2 years ago
I'm not sure and I don't want to start any rumours but Starbucks CEO supports Israel and the CD's are distributed by SBs. Perhaps that is why Palestinian musicians have been omitted. Again, this could simply be a coincidence.

People! Here we have a plea for global reconciliation and we still get allusions to some Zionist conspiracy? For goodness sake, check out the credits at 2:57 and 4:34 - it looks fairly clear that there's no intent to exclude Palestinians to me.

Loved "Stand by Me" which came at a timely time for me, as I am recovering from illness and I have had the privilege of knowing so many folks who did just that.

Embedded it yesterday in a post. bethsblog.typepad.com

I'm sure this isn't the last set of songs... There are more countries and people that can get involved. I'm sure this is just the beginning. Peace.

"we encountered love, hate, rich and poor, black and white"

JL: Are "Black and White" opposites....like rich/poor and love/hate?!

*Only* through the social construction of “race”…are Black and White opposites.
Be...the change you want to see.

Race: The Power of An Illusion
    newsreel.org/nav/title.asp?tc=CN0149

The division of the world's peoples into distinct groups - "red," "black," "white" or "yellow" peoples - has became so deeply imbedded in our psyches, so widely accepted, many would promptly dismiss as crazy any suggestion of its falsity.

Yet, that's exactly what this provocative, three-hour series by California Newsreel claims. Race - The Power of an Illusion questions the very idea of race as biology, suggesting that a belief in race is no more sound than believing that the sun revolves around the earth.

Yet race still matters. Just because race doesn't exist in biology doesn't mean it isn't very real, helping shape life chances and opportunities."

I was inspired by "Stand by Me", my first encounter with Playing For Change. "War/No More Trouble" continues the same feeling. Everyone needs to know what you folks are up to & how this feeling of "oneness" can really make a change!! Keep up the great work!

Without a doubt this musical documentary is priceless. However, I noticed the lack of arab countries, this video supposed to have all the countries of the world to achieve his goal: Peace and Change. For example, there are a couple of Israeli artist on it (really good) but there are no Palestinians.. Why's that?

    Greetings from Chile! (South America)
A country that doesn't appear in this project either.

This is a wonderful thing that these folks are doing and it is up to us humans to keep this alive until all nations export guitars instead of guns.

    Peace through the Arts

    Bono, sans aucune surprise.
Il n'est que l'un, de ces magiciens.
C'est toujours a la fois frai et surprenant.
    A voir, voir et revoir.
