Jennifer Gardy is the lucky person who gets to say "I’m a scientist & I also play one on TV." She works for the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control where she identifies and contains possible outbreaks of contagious disease. In 2011 her team was the first to use genomics and social network analysis to reconstruct a large TB outbreak.

When she's not out chasing microbes, Jennifer works in the world of science documentary TV. She hosted the Project X series in 2008 and regularly hosts episodes of The Nature of Things. In the name of science communication she’s acted as the guinea pig for hypothermia experiments, been spun round at 5G in a human centrifuge, and wore a swimsuit on TV.
