This is a comparison between the factory 5D Mark III and a modified 5D Mark III without the optical low pass / IR cut filter in front of the sensor.

The risky DIY mod does very little to improve the sharpness of the image or the amount of detail resolved. It is therefore always 100% necessary to sharpen in post if you are using a 5D Mark III and want to avoid soft mushy detail.

Shortly after this video was made I took my camera to a CPS authorised service shop to have my optical low pass filter put back in. The put-back procedure costs approximately €170.

Big thanks to Dominique for helping on this shoot with his fresh from new 5D Mark III.
