The first entry in the "One script-multiple short films" project:
vimeo.com/forums/topic:3403

All entrants interpret the same script (by Adam Deeves) in whatever way they choose. More info can be found on the Obstructionist Channel:
vimeo.com/obstructionist

I used Babel Fish to translate Adam's script into French:
babelfish.altavista.com/

I would like to thank my two actors, Bill and Dawkeye, for their courage in taking on the French language.

On behalf of my friend Bill and myself I feel I must apologize to all of our French friends for the brutal mangling of your beautiful and expressive language by two monolingual idiots.
  • SteveR 9 months ago
I thought you both spoke the language "comme un native".

Wow. I don't know what to say. This was so good on so many levels. Acting, shot selection, video look...

I'm impressed; and you managed to insert Marmite into the script.

I have to do this one script now. Bravo.

I'm looking forward to seeing your effort.

Haha. Great. And a new category: One Script - Multiple Channels. I'm off to take a fauxtograph during a lip-dub in a thunderstorm.

So far, it's made the Obstructionist Channel and the Marmite Channel. I'm hoping Dawkeye will add it to his prestigious Black and White Channel. Is there a channel for French language films?
  • Dawkeye 9 months ago
    Your wish has been granted.

Eating Marmite while speaking French, something I now need to try. Thanks for kick-starting the filming side of the project. Great job. I loved it.

Couldn't wait to see how you'd work in the Marmite.
    C'est magnifique!

Great job. I liked that it was not in english. Good job interpreting the script for this. It's a doozy.

Bravo. Most excellent. I love the "walk up and shoot it" feel of spontaneity.

Never a great idea when working in an unknown foreign language! But SteveR pulled it off with a great editing job. I love that man.

I spent 3 years learning french... you 2 two just killed it lol sorry but its true. Apart from the language the script ideas and the filming is great :D

If you give this clip a "Like", I will forgive your outrageous slur on the cast's ability to speak French.

    Should have been German.
  • SteveR 9 months ago
Someone could do a German Expressionist film with this script, and I think you're the one to do it.

Dawkeye's Gallic shrugs are top. The less said, the better, especially in Bill's "French".

Did you see Le Cheval 2.1? depict.org then search.
