Canon 5D Mark II Color Tests
I shot a little bit of footage outside a bar last night. I just got the 5D and wanted to test out how it did with various light conditions. With properly lit footage, keeping the ISO pretty low (800 or less) the footage was very clean. As soon as the light went down, the ISO really jumps up and footage becomes very noisy.
I decided to push the footage in color correction and see what I could get away with. Very surprised how much range I could get out of these two simple clips. Focusing with the lens I had on hand was a bit challenging, so this isn't the sharpest footage ever, but I really love to look of this camera. As with any piece of film or video, with proper lighting, this camera's footage can easily break out and look very close to film. Comments, thoughts and other nonsense is always appreciated below.

maybe cineform neoscene would help .. but 100$ just to convert .. not so sure :)
do you just convert to ProRes HQ once youve dropped H264 in the sequence or use compressor / other encoder?
i started playing with some footage in Color (@proRes)
and it defiantly handles, looking for a look for a music video I'm about to shoot,in color the possibilities are endless. let me know if you find a good way to convert to 24fps
It has more of the film look,
ill be waiting for any work you do on the 5D jason,.
your work is amazing,
see you around
great test. Just a silly question. Did you upload to Vimeo the uncompressed footage after the color correction, or did you compress it so it won´t be too heavy to upload to the web? I´m watching it on a big HD screen and I can see a lot of pixeling.
I just wonder if this camera´s footage will do reasonably well for 35mm blowup after post-production corrections or effects. Have you heard of 35mm blowups??
