Working out of a dusty shop in Wartrace, Tennessee (pop. 528) this family has been turning out hand-crafted guitars for three generations. And all the while building one hell of a client list. During the filming, Stephen Gallagher broke out a guitar that Doc Watson performed with for many years. It was the very guitar Doc brought to the "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" sessions. There's a famous track on that album where Merle Travis (for whom Doc had named his son) is heard complementing Doc on the "ring" of his guitar.
To which Doc replies: "It's a pretty good ole box. You know, Mr. Gallagher made this thing. Lived down near Wartrace, Tennessee."
