    Hey thanks for that Mathey!
Does the video play smoothly for you, my connection seems to freeze up. Trying to get better at encoding these things.

    Thanks again!

No problems here, in HD, with firefox 3.0.10, the video don't freeze.

Cool thanks, not sure what I think of the quality as I can't seem to get my vids to look as high resolution as other folks even though I follow all the advice and tutorials available but I suppose this will do!

    Rock on!

Thanks for "spamming" me by email man! I remember your clip for the Radiohead Aniboom competition. Your work is incredible, this is some of the best stop motion, puppet creations, and surrealistic stuff I've ever seen. And yeah, the video plays fine!
  •
  • Tobias Stretch plus 6 months ago
Ha, I guess I should learn to spam more seeing as how excited folks get and how much that rules!
    Thanks for the support!

    Wow, out of this world!
    I really like this.
I hope you are doing this as a profession!
It would be a shame to see you weren't be able to do this full-time. :)
  • Tobias Stretch plus 6 months ago
Ha! Sort of. Just music vids now which is better than the carpentry job that sustained me all my life. Patience is critical I guess but a feature would be nice some day I guess. The world needs another film like the Wizard of Oz is the way I see it. That's what gets me up in the morning! Need better people skills I guess, been hanging around with puppets mostly.
    The skies the limit!

    Thanks Qoob,
I tried my best to tie the threads of my different vids into some kind of narrative I'm just not exactly sure what it is.

I had to shoot that shot twice because the the first time the 7 foot tall puppet fell over midway (2hours into it) through the shot, so I had to come back the next day to reshoot! I'm glad to see that it was all worth it though!

For those who may be interested in the music by Richard Einhorn that Tobias Stretch used in this amazing video, these are the lyrics in latin and english from the original libretto:

    ‘VOICES OF LIGHT’
An Opera/ Oratorio Inspired by Carl Dreyer's Film
The Passion of Joan of Arc

    TORTURE

    Glorioses playes...

Et desiderabam videre vel saltem illud
parum de carne Christi quod portaverant
    clavi in ligno.

    Glorioses playes...

...ostendit cor suum perforatum quasi ad
modum portulae unius parvae laternae ...
quod ex ipso corde exiverunt radii solares.
    Imo solaribus radiis clariores...

    Glorioses playes...

...«non est aequum, velle solum de melle
meo gustare, et non de felle: si perfecte vis
    mecum uniri, mente intenta recogita
    illusiones, opprobria, flagella, mortem, et
    tormenta, quae pro te sustinui.»

    Glorioses playes...

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION

    Glorious wounds...

And I longed to see at least that little bit of
Christ's flesh that the nails had fixed to the
    wood.

    Glorious wounds...

He showed [her] his heart, perforated like
the openings in a small lantern...From his
very heart issued forth rays of the sun --no
--- brighter than the sun's rays...

    Glorious wounds...

..."It is not fair to wish to taste only of my
honey, and not the gall. If you wish to be
    perfectly united with me, contemplate
    deeply the mockery, insults, whippings,
death and torments that I endured for
    you."

    Glorious wounds...

Holy fuck, man, you just blew me away. So that's where you are when when you go where you've been. Completely boggling, monstrously creative, and twice as crazy as people say I am. Thanks for the invite and the treat for the sockets. Still haven't recovered. I'm thinking major studio credit sequence. Keep it up.
  • Tobias Stretch plus 6 months ago
If this twice as crazy as you then I fear your craziness for sure!
LOL! Treating sockets sound like a good job!
I'm gonna keep filling sockets with the wonderful wildness that can be!
So stay tuned my friend this is just the beginning!

the word 'mindf**k' springs immediately to mind...but this is a very good thing! some of the most amazing stop-motion work I have ever seen, you have the most incredible dedication and a very mysterious and intriguing vision...I was completely mesmerized by this :)))
  • Tobias Stretch plus 6 months ago
Incredible, mysterious, intriguing, mindfuck sounds like a great way to make art. I am mesmerized by your words and feel like I'm on the right track which isn't always how I feel about my stuff. Thanks for that!
Keep em' guessing keep em' stunned I say!

    Dream the big dreams!
Beauty can be created right out of thin air!

  • Lisa M 6 months ago
my friend, it is the ONLY way to make art, and you are very much on the right track...Henson eat your heart out... :)
I will admit I was worried you'd be insulted by my comment, I'm very glad you took it in the nature it was meant, as a big compliment :)
I agree dreams are indeed much more powerful than fact, and you've given me what I hope will be a good idea with that and this line 'beauty can be created out of thin air', so just wanted to thank you for the inspiration, and tell you I'm very much looking forward to your next 'mindf**k' :D
all credit to you my friend, take care :)
