January 1993, Nintendo unveiled its first polygon shooter Starfox for the Super NES. This was the first game equipped with the SUPER FX chip which was a custom RISC processor programmed to act like a graphics accelerator chip to draw polygons to a frame buffer in the RAM sitting adjacent in the SNES hardware. Nintendo presented the game inside a giant 360 degree "Space Dome" complete with a laser light show and a few sit-down Starfox demo kiosks. It was truly a spectacular event you had to have been there in-person to experience this.

In 2007, Dylan Cuthbert ( President of Q-Games ) sat down to talk about his role in developing games leading up to Starfox and his relationship with Nintendo. The Starfox laser footage can also be seen in the interview - check it out:

Woah, I loved that game. This light show seem mind blowing, so cool. 16 years ago? Shit, Nintendo. =)
