The animations were created for the Carl Zeiss AG zeiss.de and their clients in the year 2011.

For those who don`t understand german speaker:
"LASEK is short for „Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis “. The LASEK method represents a further development of the original PRK method which is almost no longer used nowadays. In contrast to the LASIK method, no cut is made into the cornea. The removal of tissue takes place in the upper layer of the cornea. This method is adapted for the application to patients who cannot be considered for the LASIK surgery for specific reasons such as:
Insufficient thickness of the cornea
Specific illnesses of the eye
Scars on the cornea
Patients doing sports with direct body contact
As compared with the LASIK method, the healing process is considerably slower, and pain occurs during the first two days after the surgery. It is recommended not to work during the first two weeks following the surgery. Exhausting sports, chemical and mechanical irritation and dusty or smoky air are to be avoided. Eye drops will be administered for up to three months to avoid the formation of scars. During the first few weeks the visual faculty will vary, and the desired acuteness of vision only be restored later. "
