The green hairstreak butterfly in close-up. Again hand held on the Canon HV20 with supplementary close-up lenses. This lovely little butterfly is well camouflaged when at rest on its favourite food plant of bilberry as it closely resembles a bilberry leave. The brown upperwings are never seen as it always rests with its wings closed. Locally scarce around Scarborough its always a delight to find in the spring.

John, Well that is a species of butterfly I have yet to see. The supplementary lens is doing a great job.

Thanks John. It's only out for a few weeks at the end of April-beginning of May, but its fairly widespread and should occur in Shropshire. The close-up lenses are wonderful, the only downside is that you have to be very close to the subject,so they test your fieldcraft.
