Director: Michael Stone, Written by: Brendan Carney.
Actors: Patrick Cloherty, Danielle Cohen, Ruth Meridjen, Jonathan Knotek, Ben Coffey and Brendan Carney.
Premise: Two coworkers, one's pregnant wife and a foreigner get stuck in an elevator; throw in an incompetent security guard and an extended Christmas party seven months past, and you get a very long ride down.
Group Members: Andrew Barchus, Phillip Platz, Ash Jang, Brendan Carney and Michael Stone.
The assignment: a 10-15 minute narrative scene about ...anything. Must include one "big" set (or two little ones).
This is what my group came up with. We spent about 3 weeks in preproduction. My biggest creative merit in this production would be about 50% of the premise's conception. I was also in charge of compiling audio effects. During the show, I was the technical director.
Shot April 28, 2009, live on tape, at Columbia College Chicago for my Directing Class. This video has been compressed for upload to vimeo, and thus has some initial quality issues beyond anything viemo has done to the video.
The is not a straight-from-tape capture. I edited the levels on the clips from one of the cameras which looked way too dark compared to our other cameras. I also tightened up 2 or 3 shots, as well as some audio effects. Finally, I hid 2 mistakes I made on the board. Beyond that, I think this is pretty faithful to what we actually created, and my editing adjustments aren't huge and should not take away from our Director's vision.
