400 Years of Rrrrrrrr….. features RheaLized and her Chorus(of)Chaos, searching for racial justice for 400 years. This excerpt from a 2011 Brooklyn Museum performance, showcases three SFGT members Holder (blonde), Kendrick and Wiggins (Chorus) in a mixed-media, interactive collage. Inspired by Sanford Biggers’ Blossom and Serena Williams’ rant protesting a blonde tennis umpire’s decision to take away a point during the 2011 US Open. Serena’s tirade “Last time I checked, this is still America!”, sounded like a manifesto from the bowels of #blackamerica, far beyond the “game” of tennis.
400 Years questions- Who cheats? Who feels cheated? Will humanity ever win? RheaLized will be projected during live performances, interacting with a post-racial color-blind American(in)Justice versus a live Chorus(of)Chaos demanding justice for all and an end to deferred dreams. 400 Year was commissioned by Brooklyn Museum to accompany Sanford Bigger’s Blossom for Target First Saturday.
