For all the filmmaking I've done (not yet that much), I admit that I am a total gear addict. It's hard not to want the best tools you can afford, so as to not feel limited by the tools that filmmaking can provide. But finally, I've managed to put together enough kit such that I feel comfortable showing it off a bit, as I feel this is about the minimum amount of investment you need if you're going to produce high quality HD video.
I created this video more as a training resource, as I'm creating a network of Australia-based positive storytellers at digitalstorytellers.us.
For the sake of those who are not Vimeo addicts, the products in the video include the following:
Nikon D300s - I have a D7000 nowadays and it's superior to the D300s.
Nikon 17-55mm DX F/2.8
Tokina 11-16mm DX F/2.8
Crumpler Bags - Keystone is shown here
Rode Videomic Pro
Rode Lavalier Mic
Zoom H2 -- do yourself a favour and get a Zoom H4n -- it's like a mini-mixing board for many different situations.
Some crappy flash kit and Cactus radio triggers -- funny how when you buy cheap stuff you don't want to use it very much :)
Loading more stuff…
Hmm…it looks like things are taking a while to load. Try again?
