Great cinematography, but conversion seems very blocky in full screen. Did vimeo change its conversion technique?
And, there was a glimpse of the GH1, not?
  • Philip Bloom plus 7 months ago
yes it was the GH1, will post some behind the scenes soon. Don't know why it is looking blocky. Nothing new my end! It looks terrible. Will reupoad.

re-uploaded and still looking awful! Please download the mp4 version until I get this sorted with Vimeo!

This is something vimeo has been having problems with. I uprez SD footage and upload in HD on here. It used to look excellent (the reason I joined vimeo), but now some of the darker shots are almost unbearable.

Great footage anyway, Philip! Nice shooting.

great stuff as always. very dreamy. horizon is always composed perfect. some shots have a tilt shift going on, and i like it. sick look.
  • Philip Bloom plus 7 months ago
Thanks Tom...yep I used tilt shift a fair bit!

You really should attempt to produce some crap. As I'm running out of adjectives. That being said, Gorgeous locations and treatment!

This may sound stupid, but do you use any UV filters when you shoot really bright outdoor stuff, almost pointing directly into the sun?

Could it be the compression? Or MB?

Looks a tad bit soft in some shots.

I really loved your Jasper Rockies vid - it seemed much more filmic.

Still, this is a fantastic piece of work.

all fixed. needed re-encoding by Vimeo and they fixed it

Reminds me of the Earth series by the BBC... maybe its the music... or the slow motion... either way, very peaceful. Made my day. How long did you spend filming on location?
  • Philip Bloom plus 7 months ago
i was there for two hours...

You are prolific man! It seems almost every day you have a new video and they are almost always great. I don't know how you do it. You are like the Steven King of videography.

honestly...nothing special or new; everybody could produce something like this...

Not many times I've seen/heard music matching images in such a nice way. At times it almost feels like custom made.
    I'm sure Debussy would agree.
