The 5D worked great; the selection of lenses really let us tell an intimate story compared to the infinite DOF of a smaller sensor. The major lessons learned are to white balance every scene, even outside in day light, and to practice pulling focus with the actors. The majority of the shots were pretty tight 85mm f/1.8, with a few 20mm f/1.8 to f/4, so our DOF was a few mm sometimes.

Yeah. I saw you used a sound devices for audio. How was syncing the sound. We did the same thing but ran out of time to sync so we ended up having to use the back up camera audio which was a shotgun mic.

We also recorded audio on camera with a Rode Videomic, which was used for a few scenes (and all of the audio in the behind-the-scenes). Syncing it up wasn't too bad since the clips were so short; we did not use tail slates and depended on the free-running clocks to stay roughly in sync.

We might not have been doing it right, but FCP didn't make two-system audio easy. It wouldn't allow audio-sync at resolution better than 1 frame and we frequently ended up with the audio getting unlinked during editing.
