In Ruido I am working with rappers from the suburbs of Havanna. I am interested in working with the energies of these youngsters who with the power of their polemic rhymes defend the underground genre of the rap movement. Their rhymes are full of social denunciation, full of the most urgent preoccupations of a young generation. Their music, influenced by its afro-American origins, lives of its simple, most urban poetics. It is universal in the world of the poor and the marginalized.
The work will be shown as a video installation. Each monitor will show an individual rapper in their private home or environment, reciting rap poems. All video and sound will be presented simultaneously without music.
