A lecture on Anti-Torture was sponsored by the Princeton-Area Interfaith Anti-Torture Group on June 28, 2012. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church, 50 Cherry Hill Road in Princeton, NJ.
The featured speaker was Elisa Massimino, president and CEO of Human Rights First. In addition other speakers included Kip Cherry Coordinator of the Princeton-Area Interfaith Anti-Torture Group, Reverend Sam Atchison former Chaplain of Trenton, NJ State Prison, Hal Fleming from Trenton Meeting and Friends and Jana Hussain from Hightstown NJ Interfaith Coalition for Peace and Justice.
June is Torture Awareness Month was established to commemorate the date when the United Nations Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (a part of the Geneva Conventions) went into effect: June 26, 1987.
