Emre Arolat -Architect
Emre Arolat was born in Ankara in 1963. He graduated from Galatasaray Lycee in 1982, MSU School of Architecture in 1986. Between 1986 – 87 he worked in Metcalf Bureau of Architecture in Washington, DC, U.S. In 1992 he has completed his master’s degree in the MSU School of Architecture. Between 1987 – 2004 he worked as an associate designer with Şaziment and Neşet Arolat at Arolat Architects. In 2004 he founded EAA – Emre Arolat Architects where he is currently working with Gonca Paşolar, Şaziment Arolat and Neşet Arolat joining in as a partner in 2008 and Sezer Bahtiyar joining in 2009. He is a workshop supervisor as well as a jury member in UU, IKU, ITU, METU, YTU, Bilgi University and MSGSU. Single buildings, large-scale housing estates, public and private management structures, shopping centers, museums, concert halls and library culture buildings, sports facilities, educational complexes, industrial buildings, airports and recreation areas has been his subjects on different scales and applications of the projects. He has published articles and essays on a variety of professional publications. He participated in national and international competitions and won prizes.
In 2006, the Dalaman Airport structure won the the international “AR Awards for Emerging Architecture, Highly Commended” award in 2008 as a participations from Turkey for the first time, the structure of Minicity Model Park won “AR Awards for Emerging Architecture, Commended” award, in 2009 Kağıthane Tekfen Offices and Milas Golf Hotel Projects won “MIPIM AR Future Projects Awards, Commended” award, Santralistanbul, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lara Kervansaray Hotel and Congress Center, Zorlu Konak Residences and Zorlu Center projects won the “2009 European Property Awards” awards, 7800 Cesme Residences and Hotel structure won “Emirates Glass Leaf Awards 2009″ in the “Best Multi-Purpose Structure” category in 2010. “Museum of Contemporary Arts Santralistanbul” for International Architecture Awards”, 7800 Cesme Residences & Hotel, Folkart Narlıdere Housing, Kagithane OfisPark and Raif Dinçkök Cultural Center projects won “European Property Awards 2010, Highly Commended” award. Minicity Model Park and Maksimum Houses for Cityscape Dubai won awards in 2010 for “Best Leisure Building” and “Best Residential Building”. Zorlu Konak Residence, Bodrum Büyük Club, Raif Dinçkök Yalova Cultural Center, Varyap Shopping and Cultural Center, Eyup Municipality office, 7800 Cesme Residences & Hotel and Minicity Model Park won the 2010 Cityscape Dubai Awards “Highly Commended” category. Aga Khan Award was awarded for Architecture award for İpekyol Textile Factory. Varyap Central Shopping and Cultural Center project in “Retail and Leisure” category, “Zorlu Center” project in “Regeneration and Masterplanning” category for the MIPIM AR Future Project Awards 2011 was awarded. By Mimar Sinan University, “Osman Hamdi Bey Award” was awarded. “Zorlu Center”,”Yalikavak Houses” and “Maslak No.1 Office Tower” projects won 2010 Green Good Design Awards. “Sinpaş Eco Town” and the Izmir Fair Center” projects received 2011 Green Good Design Awards. In 2011, “Raif Dinçkök Culture Center” project won “Recreational Structures” category in Cityscape Dubai Awards. In 2011 World Architecture Festival (WAF), Sancak mosque and the Antakya Museum Hotel projects received the “Highly Commended” award. For MIPIM AR Future Project Awards in 2012, Cendere Valley Urban Planning Project, won the “Mixed-Use Projects” category and awarded the grand prize. In March 24, 2012, on 8th Kadir Has Awards, Outstanding Achievement in Art Award was received by Kadir Has University. ArkiPARC 2012 Real Estate Awards 2012 held last March and under the project category of Alternative Investments for “Yalova Raif Dinçkök Cultural Center”, Achievement award was received from the Office category for Kağıthane OfisPark Tekfen. Again, for the first time an application from Turkey, in 2005, Minicity Model Park Project was among the selected projects within the scope of Mies van der Rohe European Awards in 2004 in the “Project” category in 2002, “Structure” and “Project” category in 1992 and in “Building” category for a total of 4 units of National Architecture Awards and in 2000 Tepe Architectural Culture Foundation’s “New Architecture Pursuits Award “. Member of the Chamber of Architects, has been a member of the Presidential İSMD.
