This is a stop motion of a 5 foot by 5 foot collaborative portrait created by my Art 100 class. Each student proposed a person of interest for the subject and then there was a rated election. Lady Diana won this session. They then choose five quadrants from the grid and applied photoshop filters to their sections. They print them out and re-create them manually, with varied techniques and materials. There is always a moment of "transformation" as they come together to form the whole, which is generally more than the sum of its parts. A metaphor for the whole act of collaboration. In keeping with Lady Diana's humanitarian interests, the students to put their intentions for how they wanted to contribute to the good of the world, into the gray areas of the background.
