Birmingham Centre for Railway Research & Education's entry for the IMechE Railway Challenge 2012. The locomotive is a hydrogen PEM fuel cell electric hybrid, uses two 2.2kW permanent magnet DC motors, and is controlled by a National Instruments Compact RIO system, operated remotely from a tablet PC. The project was part funded by the University of Birmingham 'Circles of Influence' fund, and the hydrogen store (and expertise) provided by the University of Birmingham Hydrogen Materials group.
