VU is an interactive art installation that uses a stereo’s volume meter circuit to visualize the projection of a person's voice. Two rows of circular fluorescent lights face one another with a microphone at each end. As participants speak into the microphones, they project their voice through the row of lights towards the person opposite them. When two participants simultaneously speak loudly enough through the microphones a central light “explosion” is triggered.
