These very long and thread-like worms belong to the phylum Nematomorpha. During their parasitic phase they develop inside invertebrate hosts. The early stages live in aquatic snails or insect larvae, the final stages in terrestrial arthropods. Each year, I find them in a small pond near Tübingen-Pfrondorf.
