m¥§tic †aløn is an immersive audio environment as well a performance. Using custom built audio and visual generative software built by Andrew Blanton on multiple computers + cell phone applications + audience participation, an aural landscape is built for performance. The name m¥§tic †aløn is taken from a US military and CIA operation stationed outside of Somalia as a backup to US military and Central Intelligence Agents that were on mission in Somalia to hunt members of the Al Qaeda diaspora of post September 11th Pakistan and Afghanistan. With over a decade past, we are now left with the memory of war that killed millions and a middle east that is still fractured and unstable. m¥§tic †aløn is a call for peace through music and a recontextualization of a war. The complex interwoven aural network is ultimately a representation of the complex network of human and country relationships that define our world. As our memory fades of the wars of the first decade of the new century, will hindsight help redefine a more peaceful path forward?
