Pathematics is a new way to teach math currently under development in Greensboro, NC. Here students explore all sorts of math concepts by running and jumping along a large, color-coded array of numbers and shapes, often playing the roles of the numbers themselves. For instance, a child playing the number four will wear the special color for four (yellow) and step only on the yellow dots. If she takes five steps, she finds herself on Row 20, having just solved the equation 4 x 5 = 20. All sorts of games and activities are being developed to use this unique learning environment.
