Great images as usual Mario. You managed to make a dull day look like a visual treat.

So which cam did you prefer?

Thanks, Wayne. The Canon D5II is phenomenal in low light, capable of capturing even more than is visible to the naked eye. That said, we got good results from all three and having run them through AE, I'd now have difficulty telling which shot came from which camera.

In fact, I sometimes prefer to use low grade cameras. I'm also making a little experimental short shot entirely on an iPhone. I'll keep you posted.

lovely piece - and i agree on the use of low grade camera, they have their own beauty within the degradation of the image - but saying that, i would still love to get my hands on the Canon 5DmkII!
But cameras are like the saying 'different horses for different courses.... or something like that...

The D5II is a cracker but I must say that I'm quite taken with you've been doing with the Casio FH20! Might have to get one!

I am loving the Casio, great little camera - a bit slow (ironically) as a straight stills camera, but the beauty of a hybrid is that you can do so much with them.. and even though the high speed shutter format is at a low resolution, i really like the look it produces.
I haven't really played with it enough - have you checked out my film Smoke? i shot that last week, outside in good light, played with the depth of field a bit, but the clarity in parts of the image is really something at that speed i think..
Its a little gem of a camera.

For stills, I use a Canon EOS 400D, which has a very rapid shutter response - the bane of many digital cameras - and excellent image quality with a range of Canon lenses but doesn't shoot video, let alone high speed. The Casio would complement it nicely! (The D5II is Tino's, by the way).

Haven't seen Smoke yet. Heading over there right away!

yes. I have the canon 20D, so i have the luxury of fast shutter response, but i really like extracting stills from video and from what I've seen the 5D mk II is the ultimate tool for that!
However lack of finances prevents such a purchase - this is why i am able to make so many films - the one thing poverty affords is time!!!

The digital revolution! Interesting, isn't it, how film-making has gone from being one of the most expensive creative activities known to man, to being one of the cheapest and most accessible, in under a decade!
