Gisbert Glaser of the International Council for Science (ICSU) discusses the key policy recommendations of the Farming First plan while highlighting the need for global policy-makers to address agriculture more systemically. He talks specifically of the impacts which climate change is having (and will continue to have) on agricultural production systems, and he argues that more interdisciplinary research needs to be done at the local and regional levels in order to help farmers cope in these new conditions.
