Footage of New York Mets top prospect Zack Wheeler. Pitching against the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the Eastern League, Wheeler cut threw a potent lineup like butter. His running fastball sat 95-97 MPH consistently, and he snapped off an almost untouchable curveball. Through 7 1/3 innings pitched, Wheeler struck out six batters and allowed only one earned run. He even neutralized the Squirrel's star player, Gary Brown, holding him to a groundball single in four at bats.

The San Francisco Giants top overall draft pick in 2010, selected sixth overall, Wheeler has developed in to an elite prospect. He's earned two selections to the prestigious All-Star Futures Game and has racked up 287 strikeouts in 266 professional innings. Since coming to the Mets organization via the Carlos Beltran deal last summer, he's allowed just one homerun and has struck out 129 batters in 120 innings pitched.

BaseballNewsHound.com and Baseball America named him the Mets Top Prospect for the 2012 season.
