Sheath folds are cone shaped folds often associated with shear zones.
Jacqueline E. Reber (PGP, UiO) reviews the existing theories of sheath fold formation and discusses other possible triggering mechanisms. Based on a systematical analytical and experimental study she investigates the effect of strain, layer thickness, and viscosity ratio of the shape of the evolving sheath folds.
