In 2012, Brian Wallace donated a collection of his father's drawings, photographs and documents to Sealaska Heritage Institute. His father, Amos Wallace, was a very well-known Tlingit carver who helped to carry on the tradition of Tlingit carving in the mid-twentieth century. Amos has totems and other pieces in museums, universities and other places across the country. He also was known for his appearance on the Tonight Show with Jack Paar in the 1950s. Amos Walked Into The Forest in 2004. In this video, his son, Brian, talks about Amos, his life and the remarkable collection of drawings and other materials donated to SHI for safekeeping and for teaching Northwest Coast formline to aspiring artists.
