Main behaviour change results from the pilot programme include:
The total number of weekly trips to work has reduced by 22 separate trips.
Annual health benefits resulting from the pilot are valued at $75,883.
The number of weekly trips to work by bicycle has increased from 45 to 79, an increase of 75.6%.
The weekly reduction in car trips is the equivalent of 1,304km, which is approximately the distance of a return trip between Auckland and Wellington.
Bicycle trips have increased by 389km, which is the approximate distance between Auckland and Cape Reinga.
Walking trips have increased by 147km; this is attributed to an increased awareness of active travel modes through actively engaging with employees at their place of work.
Other modes including carpooling have increased by 163km.
The frequency of cycle trips reported by participants has increased as did their perceived confidence in cycling.
