Great vid man. Very funny and entertaining!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to edit? And what were your export settings?

Shot on a Canon Vixia HF S10 camera in AVCHD (24mbps at 24fps in 60i stream). Transcoded to the computer used Final Cut Pro into ProRes 422. Then removed the telecine to make it pure 24fps use JES Deinterlacer. Popped BACK into Final Cut Pro to edit. Quite a few hoops to jump through/in, but it works and isn't too time consuming.

Oh I see.. I've noticed that a lot of other users on here also use JES Deinterlacer.. I think I might have to look into that..
Also, what settings do you use to convert? Do you use quicktime conversion? H.264 over Mpeg4? Best bit rate?
I know I'm asking a lot, but I just want to get the most out of my HFS100..
    Thanks I appreciate it

Oh, no problem. It's a Quicktime conversion when it's logged and transfered in Final Cut Pro (in ProRes 422). And encoded BACK into ProRes once again after the reverse-telecine -and with JES Deinterlacer, that's all I used, no other conversion settings than reverse-telecine. Shot ALL in 24mbps on the camera. Cinema mode for all the flashback stuff. Shutter-speed of 48 for all the "therapy group" scenes. I noticed the shutter-speed at 48 did some strange things though -it looks strobe-like. I wish I had shot it ALL in Cinema mode.

i was thinking about getting this camera? does it have any jack's for a quality mic?
  • michael bartley 6 months ago
Nope, but you can do what we did and buy a converter box. I am sure Jeff could explain in much more detail :)
